Ex- Prime Minister of Thailand and former owner of Manchester City FC, Mr Thaksin Shinawatra, paid a first visit to Wales-and to The Thai House.
Arriving at Cardiff Airport by helicopter, Mr Shinawatra and several colleagues were met by old friend and class mate Noi Ramasut who then drove them to The Thai House for a get together with supporters from within the local community.
An informal gathering of around 70 Thai people living across south Wales and the west of England, many of whom were wearing red to show their allegiance to his party gave him a very warm welcome. Khun Thaksin mixed freely with guests and posed for numerous photos! In an open question and answer session, Khun Thaksin spoke with passion about the needs of Thailand for the future.
After a buffet lunch, Khun Thaksin thanked everybody for giving their time to come to see him-and gave special thanks to Khun Noi and the Thai House staff for providing an excellent lunch. He then returned to the airport for another meeting with Thais in London before returning to Dubai where he is currently residing.
The event was filmed and photographed by the Thai-UK association for viewing on You Tube (konthaiuk.com)

Football star Craig Bellamy hosted a private party for close friends and associates at The Thai House following the successful launch of his autobiography Good Fella at Cardiff City Stadium.
Craig and his friends relaxed over a quiet dinner and discussed the future development of his academy in Sierra Leone. All proceeds from the sale of Good Fella will go to support the academy which gives both boys and girls an opportunity to receive an education whilst developing their footballing skills.
At the launch Craig had taken the opportunity to pay special tribute to his old Welsh teacher Mrs Eryl Walsh who sadly died last year but who left a bequest of ?50,000 to Craig's foundation.
With the new intake there are now 40 students living at the academy in the new hostel accomodation which the foundation has funded. For more information go to craigbellamyfoundation.org
